THE VEALE FAMILY
OF CORNWALL, ENGLAND
IN MEMORY OF THE LATE CARL WILLIAM VEALE SENIOR AND THE OTHER VEALE FAMILY ASSOCIATION MEMBERS WHO HAVE SINCE PASSED AWAY.
This writing is a combination of the writings of the late Carl William Veale Senior and The Veale Family Association Staff. Plus being combined with the Later Day Saints Family Center’s microfiche and other items found in the Indiana Historical Society files. The Veale Family Association which includes the research of Carl William Veale Senior and their Veale Heritage Quarterlies, their 30 Genealogies. Plus many other related items of historical interest.
The Veale’s of Cornwall, England is the direct connection to the families of the Veale Family Association. A special thank you goes to Ruth Yvonne Veale, Carl W. Veale Sr.’s daughter, who advised me as to whom had possession of the Carl collection. And to Mrs. Fern Odom Veale, a family member and a Family Association member, Fern is the person who permitted me to see and study this large collection. Again a big thank you!

THE EARLY VEALE’S OF ENGLAND
Most of this writing is the direct results and work of Carl W. Veale Sr., of Los Angeles, CA, now deceased. This collection is now in the hands of: Mrs. Fern O. Veale, Buena Park, CA . Full credits belong to the Veale Family Association and the devoted work of these members. A special acknowledgment belongs to the late Carl W. Veale Sr., the Publisher and Editor of most of this work.
Carl has indicated in his writings that most of the known Veale’s or the 67 different spellings of the United Kingdom to eight different persons. The two major players being: (1.) HUMPREY DE VILLIES, with a Danish and Norman heritage. And (2.) GALFRIDUS VITULUS (JEFFREY VEEL), who married into the Danish family after the Dane’s Invasion.
In my mother’s (Myrtle L. Veale) writings, she located a German Ships Log recording a Veale birth aboard a German vessel in 1624 that was bound to England. This family reportedly settled near Cardiff, Wales.
While in England, I briefly met Carl W. Veale, at this time he showed me some of the documents that he had collected from some of the old parishes. Most of these items were hand copied and many were written in Latin. Thanks to Fern Veale, I now have over 30 of these collections to observe and study.
The e in Veale was only added to this script after Jacob Veale, the son of Richard Veale III returned to England to collect his inheritance. Jacob learned that his ancestors had added the e many generations ago. Therefore the spelling of Veale is correct in this writing.
The method of presentation is the Family Tree Maker approach, which permits one to present a lot more information with less paper work or pages. The major change is that it is written by generations with an exclusive use of person identifying numbering system.
The distribution of this writing is that of the family of the late Carl W. Veale Sr. My only purpose is to be able to try to locate family connections for other Veal/Veale’s in the USA, and perhaps my own heritage.
Respectfully,
Robert L. Veale
