MORE ABOUT CARL WILLIAM VEALE I:

He was the author and publisher of the Veale Family Heritage and the 30 Genealogies. He and his Veale Family Association put the information together, and did sell this on the American market.

I personally met him in the American Embassy in London, England in 1955. He was there to renew his American Passport, and I to gain my wife’s Green Card for immigration to the USA in November of 1957.

His history comes from the fact he served in the American Army in England until 1945 at the end of WW II. In his adventures in England where he had found his own roots in St. Columb Major, Cornwall, England he took his military discharge as a Sergeant and stayed in England for another five years. His method of researching was going to the old parishes, courts and the like finding all possible he could on the Veal/Veale families. When returning to the USA he formed the Veale Family Association in Los Angeles, California. He and members of his staff made many trips back to the United Kingdom to do more researching.

At the time of our meeting, he showed me many copies of old original documents that he had just found some in Latin and others in French and Welch. He had asked me to join his staff and work with him in England. Being a just newly married man, I had other things on my mind. Carl gave me his home address of which I mailed it to my father in Indiana. By more than luck, after the demise of my father in 1985, and my retirement from diabetes in 1992, I sort of inherited the unfinished work of my parents. My luck held good, as I did write Carl at his Los Angeles home, and his daughter answered this letter letting me know that he had passed away in 1987. She referred me to a senior staff member who so generously sent me a copy of all of Carl’s work. What an adventure, so much so, that I spent the entire year of 2002 combining his Genealogies with his verb documents, a thing that he did not live long enough to do himself. Even to this day, I’ve still a long way to go before it can be released to the public to see and understand. This is very interesting for sure. (RLV)
